Susie said: “We didn’t bake much at home when I was growing up, and it was my Aunty P who always did the cakes and desserts for family parties. She taught me this one when I was small, and I loved it because the ingredients are so easy to remember (4,4,4), and the recipe is so easy to make."
Ingredients
450g (8oz) butter
450g (8oz) cooking chocolate (milk or dark)
450g (8oz) plain amaretti biscuits or a family favourite plain biscuit
60g golden sultanas
- Melt the butter and chocolate in a bowl over a pan of boiling water.
- Then crush the biscuits (I do it in a tea-towel, but you could use another method) – leaving some small chunks, and not just fine crumbs. Stir into the chocolate mixture with the washed sultanas.
- Fold into a 20cm x 20cm tin lined with baking parchment, and place in the fridge to set.
- Divide into 16 squares and dust with cocoa powder.
